The iPad Pro (2024) has arrived, and it’s a massive upgrade in every sense. The star attractions are its incredibly powerful new M4 chipset and stunning OLED screen, but there’s a lot more to appreciate about this tablet.

In the sections below, you’ll find a complete breakdown of the iPad Pro (2024)’s specs and features, as well as details on its release date and pricing.

Unsurprisingly, this tablet comes with a hefty price tag. If you’re looking for a more budget-friendly option, consider the iPad Air (2024), which launched alongside it.

Hopefully, you’ve been saving up because the 11-inch iPad Pro (2024) starts at $999 / £999 / AU$1,699 for the 256GB version. The price increases to $1,199 / £1,199 / AU$2,049 for 512GB, $1,599 / £1,599 / AU$2,749 for 1TB, and tops out at $1,999 / £1,999 / AU$3,449 for the 2TB model.

The 13-inch iPad Pro (2024) begins at $1,299 / £1,299 / AU$2,199 with 256GB of storage, rising to $1,499 / £1,499 / AU$2,549 for 512GB, $1,899 / £1,899 / AU$3,249 for 1TB, and $2,299 / £2,299 / AU$3,949 for 2TB.

These prices are for the Wi-Fi models; if you want 5G capability, you’ll need to add an extra $200 / £200 / AU$350 to the price of each model.

If you opt for the 1TB or 2TB models, you’ll have the option to add nano-texture glass, though this will increase the cost. A fully maxed-out iPad Pro 13 (2024) could set you back $2,599 / £2,599 / AU$4,479.

The iPad Pro (2024) is available in two sizes: an 11-inch model and a 13-inch version. The 11-inch model measures 249.7 x 177.5 x 5.3mm and weighs 444g, while the 13-inch version is slightly larger at 281.6 x 215.5 x 5.1mm and weighs 579g.

Both sizes are slimmer than their predecessors. For comparison, the 2022 iPad Pro 11 was 5.9mm thick, and the 2022 iPad Pro 12.9 was 6.4mm. In fact, Apple claims that the new 13-inch model is the thinnest Apple product ever.

Both the 11-inch and 13-inch models are available in Silver and Space Black, with a sleek aluminum casing.

While the design is impressive, the display is even more so. Both sizes feature an OLED screen—the first time this has been available on an iPad. This OLED display offers superior contrast and deeper blacks compared to the LCD or even mini-LED screens of previous models, delivering enhanced detail in shadows and low-light conditions.

Apple has taken the OLED display a step further with ‘Tandem OLED’ technology, which combines two OLED panels to boost brightness. This allows the iPad Pro (2024) to achieve 1,000 nits of full-screen brightness and 1,600 nits of peak HDR brightness. The overall display is called ‘Ultra Retina XDR.’

The 11-inch model has a resolution of 1668 x 2420 pixels (264 pixels per inch), while the 13-inch version boasts a resolution of 2064 x 2752 pixels (also 264 pixels per inch). Both models feature a 120Hz refresh rate that can drop as low as 10Hz to conserve battery life.

The iPad Pro (2024) is equipped with a 12MP f/1.8 rear camera, LiDAR, and an Adaptive True Tone flash that improves document scanning by eliminating shadows. The front-facing camera is a 12MP f/2.4 lens, now positioned on one of the long edges, making it more convenient for video calls. It also includes Face ID on this long edge.

The rear camera can record video at up to 4K quality at 60fps, while the front-facing camera supports 1080p at 60fps.

As for the battery, Apple hasn’t disclosed the exact capacity, but claims that both models offer up to 10 hours of web browsing on Wi-Fi or video playback before needing a recharge. The 5G models should provide up to 9 hours of web surfing over a mobile data network. Charging is done via USB-C.

One of the most significant upgrades in the iPad Pro (2024) is its new M4 chipset. Apple promises that this chipset is a major improvement over the M2 in the iPad Pro (2022), delivering up to 50% faster CPU performance and up to 4x faster GPU performance. The M4 is built using second-generation 3nm technology, designed to be power-efficient, and includes a 16-core neural engine capable of 38 trillion operations per second.

Apple also claims that the iPad Pro (2024) offers 20% better thermal performance and up to 4x faster pro rendering performance compared to its predecessor.

The M4 chipset is paired with 8GB of RAM for the 256GB and 512GB storage models, while the 1TB and 2TB versions come with 16GB of RAM.

Additionally, the 1TB and 2TB models feature a 10-core CPU, whereas the 8GB RAM models are equipped with a 9-core CPU.

The iPad Pro (2024) runs on iPadOS 17 and includes four speakers. It also supports the new Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil Pro.
