Google Gemini AI Image Generator Upgrade Could Rival ChatGPT’s DALL-E with Precise Editing Tools

Google is set to enhance its Gemini AI image generator with a significant upgrade, bringing new precision editing features that could compete with leading tools like ChatGPT’s DALL-E. According to reports from Android Authority, the latest Android beta (v15.40.31.29) introduces fine-tuning options, allowing users to make detailed adjustments to their AI-generated images.

In a demo from Android Authority, Gemini generated an image of “a cute dog wearing a hat and sunglasses.” The user then requested to “change the hat to a birthday hat,” and Gemini effortlessly executed the modification. This type of precise editing may be familiar to AI enthusiasts, but it’s exciting to see Google further expanding Gemini’s image-generation capabilities to match competitors.

Aiming to Compete with the Best AI Image Generators

These new image-editing tools place Google Gemini in direct competition with top AI image generators, such as ChatGPT’s DALL-E. Apple Intelligence’s upcoming Image Playground is also expected to launch by year-end, making this an opportune time for Google to add robust features to Gemini.

From the demo, it’s clear that the feature is still in beta, with the author noting that “the edits aren’t always precise or reliable.” Additionally, the video has been edited to remove any wait times, suggesting the process might be slower when it officially launches.

A Competitive AI Image Generator Landscape

The rapid evolution of AI image generators is impressive, with new tools and updates arriving regularly. Midjourney, widely considered one of the top AI image generators, will face increasing competition as platforms like Google Gemini continue to innovate.

Google’s upcoming Gemini update looks promising, but only time will tell how it measures up to competitors like DALL-E once the feature is officially released and available for broader use.
